Election Postponed; Controversy ensues

NYMAN, DC- After all the ballots for this past weekends election were lost, a new election was called for. It will be held with the same rules, February 25-27. One of the most interesting results of this was the District 3 race. Mike Naso was leading Senator Nym90 by a five vote margin, with 15 votes in. Naso has campaigned harder, but is viewed in some circles as a joke. Reports say the Nym strategists are going to work hard to remind voters about Mr. Naso's troubled past, and the Senator's accomplishments. This is part of a larger controversy over whether to campaign during the extra week. Some vowed not to, others said why not. It is clear, if Nym90 wins this weekend, Republicans will be head over heels in anger.

It could be projected that the Senate will lean to the center/right next term. District 1 was set to go for Colin Wixted, District 2 for MAS117, District 3 for Mike Naso, District 4 for SamSpade, and District 5 for Hughento. That would leave the Senate with four liberals, Gabu, Hughento, Al, and Siege40, and six center-righists, MAS117, Colin Wixted, Supersoulty, WMS, SamSpade, and Mike Naso. It should be noted that it would be liberals vs. moderates, and the conservatives would have little power.

In the Presidential race, Lewis Trondheim was narrowly beating out Kemperor in the final tally. Al said he had some support that did not show up. It will be interesting, but the advantage is with Trondheim.

Akno21 Leaves Race

After tapes released on Sunday demonstrated that he had lied about his knowledge of the GirlGoneWild situation, Akno21 dropped out of the race for D2 Senate on Monday. He also stepped down as Chairman of the AFDNC.

This leaves the door wide open for write in MAS117, who picks up all of Akno's liberal support. Much controversy has been started over whether Keystone Phil, who played a major role in recording the tapes of Flyers2005, the creator of GirlGoneWild, overstepped his bounds. It is the view of this publication that Phil was correct in releasing the tapes, but that the situation should be done with right now, as nothing more useful can be done.

Supersoulty Leaves Pres. Race

As soon as he entered, Senator Supersoulty changed his mind and left the Presidential race. Saying he overreacted, he is likely to vote for Kemperor.

Supersoulty Enters Presidential Race

Senator Supersoulty (Free-PA) has entered the race for President, as a write-in candidate. His entrance was in part due to anger over a ruling by justice and Presidential candidate Kemperor. He said Kemperor was correnatated President way too early and warned Atlasians not to make the same mistake again.

He has not yet chosen a Vice-Presidential candidate. Vice President Keystone Phil urged him to reconsider, saying that he would split the right, resulting in President Lewis or Al. However, since the vast majority of the right, unlike the Vice-President, uses preferential voting, it will be a non-issue.

Supreme Court Hands Down Two Decisions

NYMAN, DC- The Supreme Court handed out two decisions today. The first, reached unanimously, said "In the case of Mike Assad vs. StevenNick, the Supreme Court of Atlasia unanimously rules in favor of the plaintiff. Mike Assad's voting rights shall be restored in full. We rule that StevenNick violated the Civil Liberties Amendment, Clauses 1 and 8, by removing Mr. Assad's voting right without due process. Since trolling is a crime, the proper due process would have been a trial. All future instances where trolling is accused for any purpose, a trial must be held to determine guilt. Under normal circumstances, StevenNick may have brought this issue to trial, but because Clause 8 specifies that all criminal accusations must have a trial occur within one month of the accusation, we are unable to hold a trial on Assad's trolling. However, should Assad be accused of trolling in the future, a trial may be held to determine guilt. If found guilty, his registration may be removed." The move was applauded by most, except Lt. Gov. Htmldon, who has been a victim of Mr. Assad.

In the second case, Bono v. Atlasia, Bono won 2-1. The court ruled, "In the case of Bono vs. Atlasia, the Supreme Court of Atlasia finds the Unwed and Teenage Mothers Protection Bill unconstitutional. We find that several sections of the bill violate the Constitution. Proponents of the bill argue that Section 1, Clauses 16 and 17 of the Powers Amendment gives the Federal Government the power to implement this program. Clause 16 says “To provide for the humanitarian relief of the distress caused by unpredictable events of natural or man-made origin.” We find that this clause is clearly intended to apply to natural disasters such as a tsunami or violent events such as a terrorist attack. It is not intended to apply to everyday events such as childbirth. Clause 17 says “to provide for systems of Insurance and Annuity for Unemployment, Disability, and Retirement.” We find that this clause is clearly intended to apply to Unemployment benefits, Disability benefits, and retirement programs such as Social Security. We do not view pregnancy and childbirth as a disability. Furthermore, this bill violates the equal protection clause of the Civil Liberties Amendment. By only applying to unwed and teenage mothers, this bill discriminates against certain women on the basis of marital status.
Finally, this bill violates Section 2, Clause 7 of the Powers Amendment which states “No Law requiring any action to be taken or to be not taken by a Region shall be passed, except to preserve the rights of the Senate or of the People enumerated under the Constitution.”. Because the bill regulates how state funds will be spent, it violates Regional rights as determined by Section 2, Clause 7. Due to all these violations, the Court rules the Unwed and Teenage Mothers Protection Bill grossly Unconstitutional." The move was attacked as partisan by Senator Supersoulty. TexasGurl dissented, writing, "It is my belief that the paramount responsibility of government is the welfare and safety of it's citizens.Clauses 16 and 17 were clearly an attempt by the senate to do just that.In striking down this attempt to further the welfare of societies most helpless citizens, the court has forced countless desperate mothers to resort to abortion or prostitution for a lack of any alternative. No one was harmed by this legislation and no one was realisticaly discriminated against.this is simply a matter of too narrow an interpretation of the intent of the senate in regards to the Powers of the Senate and Regions amendment."

Vice-Presidential Debate in Full Gear

NYMAN, DC- The Vice-Presidential debate is in full swing, about 12 hours after Secretary King opened discussion from his Nyman office. Much more active than the Presidential Debate, Alcon and True Democrat have answered questions about their political views, appointments, and qualifications for office.

The debate can be viewed here. http://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=16781.0

Vice-President lashes out at Senator StatesRights

In a small speech, Vice President Keystone Phil said we need a more mature Senator in D4. He said "Senator StatesRights has played his games with members of Atlasia on and off this forum. I did not want to get involved in this race but actions by the Senator have forced me to take action. SamSpade and George W. Bush are both respectable members of Atlasia. I do not plan on endorsing either of the two but I will encourage any undecided voter to look at these two men. Thank you."

The Senator responded with a short statement, saying Keystone Phil cannot take a joke. Whatever the reasons behind the opposition of a political ally, it cannot be denied that District 4 is the most unpredictable, and intense Senate race in the sequence.

UL Will Play Huge Role In D2

With the entrance of Redefeatbush taking away much of Akno21's moderate support, it will be up to the significant United Left presence in District 2 to win the election for Akno. Jens, Michael Z, NickG, Senator Siege40, and Zachman, plus liberals Blerpiez and Old Europe all are likely Akno voters. However, none are in his party, and only a few have been active lately in fantasy politics.

How well these guys turn out will define the D2 election.

George W. Bush Switches Parties

Senate candidate George W. Bush offically switched from the Republican to Freedom party today. The Texan is in a Senate race with Senator StatesRights and SamSpade, that will hold elections this February 18-20.

A charisma strapped candidate in a wide-open field, Bush's move will likely win him the Freedom endorsement, and possibly a vote from Preston Caldwell of Arkansas.

Redefeatbush enters in D2

Redefeatbush (UP-NJ) entered the District 2 Senate race last night. He is a moderate in an extreme field, of Senator Bono and former Senator Akno21. In his speech, he cited extreme positions of Bono and said that Akno21 was simply a typical liberal.

He has much support from outside the district, but it is unsure how he will actually do in the election. He is staunchly pro-life, a stance that could hurt him among more liberal moderates.

Nym Wins D3 Audio Debate

Senator Nym90 is said to have won the radio debate with his main challenger, Republican Mike Naso of Ohio. Listeners said Naso tossed around liberal like it was a dirty word, and that Nym sounded more polished and professional. Naso, known for his skills on radio and television, was respectable, and is by no means out of the race. He acknowledged defeat in a recent statement, and said he was going to a party to watch the Super Bowl.

Party Conventions in Full Swing

The Freedom, Democratic, and Republican parties are all having their conventions this weekend. The Democratic convention has been light, with a slight platform update and a speech from the chairman. True Democrat is expected to speak tomorrow. At the Freedom convention, a motion to endorse ColinW for Senate has gained support, and progressive taxation will take a more promiment role in the platform.

As always, the GOP convention, in Denver, is a source of excitement. In a push by ColinW, the party is close to endorsing Keystone Phil for another term as Vice-President. It would not be surprising, except for the fact that the party already endorsed Kemperor for President, and his running-mate is a Democrat, Alcon. Alcon currently leads 4-3, but it is still a tight race.
